Optical Systems Engineer / Ingenieur für optische Systeme (m/w/d)

Magnosco is a advanced Start-up located in Berlin-Adlershof.

Our goal is: Improving the diagnostic in Dermatology.

We are using laser spectroscopy and AI. Our first application is early skin cancer detection.

We are a compentent, interdisciplinary and dedicated team of 12 people. The DermaFC is our first, certified medical product to detect skin cancer. We are now working on the new generation of our device for the international market.

We are looking for an Optical Systems Engineer (m/f/d) to support the user-centric development of our innovative medical products.

Your main tasks are:

  • Point of competence: Optical Design and Engineering
  • Architecting of the optical subsystems in the medical devices
  • Requirements Engineering / Management of the optical subsystems, modules and components used in medical devices and test setups including usage of the Requirement Management Tool
  • Performing of Design-Field-Studies and Feasibility Studies in the scope of optical / optomechanical design
  • Design-to-Performance, support of the Design-to-Cost and Design-for-Manufacturing
  • Collaboration by building up and qualification of prototypes and functional models
  • Optimization of the optical assemblies and components during the product life cycle, production support
  • Support of the verification / validation of the medical products and their components
  • Detailed documentation of the development results incl. version management of the optical models
  • Commissioning of the individual modules / components
  • Supervision of the external suppliers as well coordination of the development partners in the scope of the prototyping
  • Optical design and engineering of optical tests and test setups
  • Support of test automation
  • Technical lead in the optics/photonics-centered projects

How to excite us:

  • Min. Master degree in physics or engineering
  • Substantial development experience with systems including pulsed lasers, spectrometers, digital imaging, LED illumination, opto-mechanical/electronical components as well as embedded control electronics and software
  • Proficiency in programming for simulation and calculation automation (MatLab, Labview, Python, …)
  • Min. 3 years R&D
  • Min. 3 years proficiency in optical design software (Zemax, CodeV, OptaLix, …)
  • Experience in medical industry
  • (Technical) project management skills
  • Communication skills
  • Team player
  • High proficiency in English (oral and written)
